A recent sighting over Capitol Hill has reignited UFO speculation after a set of mysterious lights appeared above the iconic Capitol dome, causing alarm and curiosity among onlookers and social media users alike.
The incident, captured in a photograph by US Air Force veteran and tour guide Dennis Diggins, shows four glowing lights hovering above the Statue of Freedom. In a separate video taken from a greater distance, the same lights are seen shifting from a square formation to a single line, maintaining their position above the government landmark.
The timing of the sighting has only fueled speculation, coming weeks after congressional hearings on alleged secretive government programs involving “alien” technology and unidentified spacecraft.
Social media quickly erupted in a frenzy, with some users proclaiming, “It is already happening,” and others labeling the spectacle as “insane!”
However, not everyone is convinced the lights are evidence of extraterrestrial activity. Skeptics, including noted Ufologist John Greenewald Jr., dismissed the incident as an optical illusion.
“The lights at the U.S. Capitol building have caused ‘UFO sightings’ through camera lenses for decades,” Greenewald explained. “This is nothing more than lens flares, but it’s fascinating that these images are circulating again—and that so many people are convinced.”
Despite the debunking attempts, the images and videos have kept the discussion alive, leaving many to wonder: is there more to the story, or is it all just a trick of the light?
