Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Make Long-Awaited Return to R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart with ‘Gorgeous’

Hip-hop’s dynamic duo is back! After a 13-year hiatus, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have reunited on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart with their new collaboration, “Gorgeous,” featuring Jhene Aiko. The track debuts at No. 29 on the chart dated Nov. 16, marking their first joint appearance on the list since “Kush,” their 2011 hit featuring Akon, reached No. 43.

The new single, released on Nov. 1, has already made waves, racking up 3 million U.S. audience impressions during the tracking week of Nov. 1-7, according to Luminate. With its strongest support coming from Midwest radio stations WHHH-FM in Indianapolis and WIZF-FM in Cincinnati, and a notable showing on KRRL-FM in Los Angeles, “Gorgeous” is setting the stage for big things.

This collaboration marks a significant moment in both Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s careers. For Snoop, this is his 69th entry on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, while Dr. Dre notches his 34th and Aiko earns her 16th entry. Notably, Aiko has maintained a streak of chart appearances every year since her debut in 2013, making her a consistent presence in the genre.

New Heights for ‘Gorgeous’

In addition to marking a long-awaited reunion for Dre and Snoop, “Gorgeous” also sets career-best debut positions for both Dr. Dre and Jhene Aiko, while Snoop falls just one spot shy of matching his highest-ever debut rank. Back in 2018, he reached No. 28 with his feature on Lil Duval’s “Smile (Living My Best Life).”

But “Gorgeous” isn’t just a trip down memory lane—it’s a preview of what’s to come. The single is the first release from Snoop Dogg’s upcoming album, Missionary,” set for release on Dec. 13. The album will be produced by none other than Dr. Dre, making it the first full-length collaboration between the two since their legendary work on Snoop’s debut album, Doggystyle (1993). That album, with iconic tracks like “Gin and Juice” and “What’s My Name?”, helped shape the sound of West Coast hip-hop and solidified Dre and Snoop as rap royalty.

The release of Missionary will mark a significant moment in hip-hop history, as Dre and Snoop return to their roots and once again redefine the genre. The anticipation surrounding the album is palpable, as fans eagerly await the reunion of two of rap’s most influential forces

Chart Movement Across Platforms

Beyond its strong debut on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, “Gorgeous” is also making waves on other charts. The track enters at No. 34 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and No. 26 on Rhythmic Airplay, showcasing its wide appeal across different music platforms and formats.

With Snoop Dogg’s Missionary album on the horizon and a chart-topping single in “Gorgeous,” this collaboration is a reminder of why these two legends continue to dominate the hip-hop scene after decades in the game. The best is yet to come for this iconic pair, and fans can’t wait to hear what’s next.
